Your Thoughts…

So, the time is closing upon us…

I have vast amounts of updates to release, as well as some new scripts. The new scripts include a full version of my equipment system and a simple beta version of the ABS i’ve been working on for months…

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on systems that could work well within the current $D13x Engine?

I’m not asking you to give me huge idea’s for scripts. What I am asking for is your thoughts on improvements to current scripts, features that my engine could benefit from and also, original ideas (nothing from another game).

    two quick ideas:

    Pet system for ATB;
    Summoning system for Turn based (there are no good scripts for it now);

  2. Pet system for ATB ? you mean a system where by you can summon pets in battle? I thought there where alot of scripts that done that ?

    Some strange idea:
    1) Skill combo system in ABS;
    2) Spawn event (like trap on alies / mercenaries) in ABS;
    3) Battle transport system for ABS(hero went in “Tank” and then player rule and battle like “Tank”, while hero in);
    4) Your own platform system for ABS;

    OMG! Cant wait ABS beta.

  5. The ABS currently has a casting/cooldown system, I guess a combo type system could work well within it, depending on how it was written. I’ll have a think about that one :p

    ABS also includes a ‘spawn event’ feature, but its more for spawning enemies in an area when one dies. eg. slime dies, another new slime spawns.
    This ensures that a constant stream of enemies is in the area, regardless of how fast you kill them.. I could easily add a script call to allow a specific enemy to be spawned when the script call is used…

    Do you mean wehicles that you can use against the enemies ? like use a tank and fire at enemy for huge damage ? seems interesting, again, i will have a think on that..

    Im not sure what you mean by ‘move platform system’… Do you mean where you can move an item from one location to another and leave it there?

    So hard create idea when dont know what features system already have. =)

    For “spawn” i mean that player can spawn some objects(events)…Not respawn enemies.
    (I think, its may be interesting in quest-aspect…but more people relaised this by global events conditions, and i dont really know about necessary of this idea)

    Platform…like in “Landstalker”, see pictures:

    I happy if give you some new / interesting idea for thinking. =)

    On the first thought the Pet system is a good idea but what if the pet can help you like the ones that Falcao have,and pet can have his own set of skills,one for helping you on the map like Falcao(to climb,to activate events and so on)and 3 skills or so to help you in battle(to attack,to defend,to heal or even some special skills for that pet,like a follower but a pet)also pets can have their own life and with a special skill the can be hurt in your place,to ake damage for you.For pets will be cool and a special window to select the one you want,and to equip to pet some equipment and to create for pets a special skill that if their owner is killed they sacrifice themself and the owner is revived.
    On the second thought I always looked for a dash system that increases the dash of the player according to his agility,generally in ABS’ the agility isn’t an stat that is seen,and what if the attack frequincy is increased also according to the agility.
    And about the platform DarchanKaen is talking is more like Victor’s Movement Platform,but that script is not compatible with the ABS of Falcao,so you can try to make one for your battle system,if is not compatible with your battle system.

    P.S.:The error with Victor’s Movement Platform and Falcao’s ABS is that the script is bound to Pixel Movement and for a succesful attack you have to be right in front of the enemy(in the middle)or else the attack wont succed.

  8. Ahh I see what you mean about the platforms thing now. I am really not sure about how tat would work within my systems but i will give it some thought.

    So what would be the point in spawning an event ? would it be spawned by another event or a key press or under other conditions ?

    Also, I have always liked pet systems within games, Falcao’s is a great system which seems very similar to the Aion pet system (not sure if that was the inspiration for the script) .. To be honest, I am not sure how i feel about writing my own pet system as there is already a few decent ones…

    With regards to the agi movement speed thing. That seems like it would work best within some kind of pixel movement system, which my ABS does NOT use. (mine has a similar move style to falcaos). I really like that idea though so I will see what i can come up with ^_^
